Belgium’s Finest Wagyu Steakhouse, from Grillmaster Chef José Villanueva.
Mey is a world-class steakhouse restaurant located in the Eilandje District of Antwerp.

The brainchild of restaurateur Kiarash Nabavieh, Mey is a unique Steakhouse with

South American and Persian culinary influences.

Mey is the one of the few restaurants in Belgium serving Japan’s finest A5 wagyu beef.

What makes our Wagyu special?
Japanese Wagyu is the finest of all steaks. Ranchers breed these special cows, tracing their bloodlines back generations to ensure every cut achieves that same, melt-in-your-mouth level of marbling the beef is known for. We sear our steaks over a Green Egg grill. Our chef José cook each steak to order, triple-searing each piece of meat, first with salt, then with secret spices, and finally, with a charcoal infused oil. It means we’ve done our homework. It means you’ve just arrived at steak heaven.

You’ve heard about it but never ordered it before. You decide to indulge. A plate arrives at the table. A5 Wagyu.
That sweet umami flavor you’re tasting is unique to Japanese Wagyu. Ranchers breed only the purest of cows, tracing their bloodlines back generations to ensure every cut achieves that same, melt-in-your-mouth level of marbling the beef is known for. That sear you’re admiring, that comes from our Green Egg coal-fired grill.
When we went about reimagining Mey’s new culinary program, we knew we wanted this restaurant to be a destination for steak lovers and those with the most discerning palates, wagyu lovers, those who appreciate refinement.
Our program, in reality, isn’t anything groundbreaking or revolutionary. It’s steak. Done simply. Sourced from the best. Cooked using the best techniques, the best tools. Seared by those at the top of their game.
It’s the ultimate dining experience for those who seek the best of everything.

But where is the name Mey coming from?

According to Persian legend, wine was discovered by a girl despondent over her rejection by the king. The girl decided to commit suicide by drinking the spoiled residue left by rotting table grapes. Instead of poisoning the girl, the fermented must caused her to pass out to awaken the next morning with the realization that life was worth living. She reported back to the king her discovery of the intoxicating qualities of the spoiled grape juice and was rewarded for her find.
